Codeforge Lessons: AKs Ingress struggles

In this blog, I’m going to talk about the challenges I faced while deploying my project, CodeForge (a coding platform) and what struggles I faced with AKs and Ingress.

Getting Started with Kubernetes

I used Minikube for local development and testing of the Kubernetes manifest files for the CodeForge and after some errors it started working fine. So I created my deployments, services, pv, pvc and ingress resource and tested them on minikube.

Helm

I created helm templates for the application and tested on minikube but create two values.yaml for dev and prod env.

Moved to AKs

The first error was not actually and error, It was just that I didn't change the storageClassName appropriately for Azure 😅. But then the second error was something which confused me was that the frontend service which was configured to run on port 80 was failing. And just to check the error I tried a different port 8080 and guess what it worked. So I tried multiple things but didn't found the reason for that. Tried to debug nginx, docker file, and inbound rule for ports but not found the issue.

The Helm also failed because of the same reason and just changing the port worked there two.
